Guidelines

The ASTE Newsletter Editor encourages members to contribute the following types of submissions to our quarterly publication.

Deadlines for Submissions:

Autumn Issue – Oct. 10
Winter Issue – Feb. 10
Spring Issue – May 10
Summer Issue – Aug. 10

Contributions to the ASTE Newsletter can be submitted online. Except where noted, all submissions should support the ASTE mission statement, and be no longer than 1000 words (excluding references and figures/tables). Submissions should follow APA format, and use 12-point Times New Roman font. Editable files (.doc, .docx, Google Doc, etc.) are preferred. Submissions will be screened for their alignment with the ASTE mission and overall quality, and may be returned to authors for further editing/proofreading. Authors are encouraged to include a photo to help members connect you with your role/contribution.

SUBMISSION TYPES

President’s Letter

A letter from the President/Presidential Team can be included in the quarterly newsletter.

Forum/Region/Committee/Editorial News

Each newsletter includes news items and information for the general membership from the Chairs of a Forum/Region/Committee and Editors of ASTE Journals.

Member News & Short Articles

Members are encouraged to submit news and other items of interest to the membership for inclusion in the newsletter. Examples include news items, opinion pieces, book or resource reviews, dissemination of grant-funded projects, etc. News items requiring a more timely distribution may be referred to the Communications Committee to be disseminated as an Announcement

Advertisements

Members may submit advertisements to be included in the newsletter that are relevant to the broader membership. These are included, space permitting, and are free for members. Examples might include professional development opportunities, programs, or books authored by members. Position announcements should be posted to the ASTE website rather than the newsletter.

In Celebration

Do you know a member who has recently defended a dissertation? been promoted or received tenure? had a recent publication? received an award? These messages (up to 25 words in length) are a way to recognize the accomplishments of our members and congratulate them publicly for their achievements!
